Trendrr Case Study: Next New Networks
Rebecca Lando is the writer, producer, and editor for the MSN/Next New Networks show FilmFan. She is responsible for aggregating the data that will go into a single episode and decides what statistical snapshots to present to the audience. Rebecca uses Trendrr to determine how films perform across social media.
How FilmFan Uses Trendrr
“We use Trendrr to track what fans are saying about films across sites like Twitter and YouTube to determine popularity,” said Rebecca. “We like to see what the demographics of the audience are and identify what the bloggers have to say.”
“Mashups,” she added, “are the most fun Trendrr feature to work with. I get to see the sentiment versus the volume, the popularity of a movie across several search engines, who’s the most popular actor in a certain weekend, or who won the weekend’s buzz.”
We Do It All In A Weekend
The average FilmFan episode starts with Rebecca deciding which movies she plans on tracking for the forthcoming episode. “I usually start the project on Wednesday The episode is written on a Friday or a Saturday, the numbers are checked late Sunday, and double-checked before the episode shoots on Monday.”
Rebecca’s research process is efficient because of Trendrr. Instead of having to do comparisons on her own across multiple sites, “Trendrr does it all.” She happily added, “and it illustrates everything too! I don’t have to spend any time in Photoshop making graphics!”
Why Trendrr?
“Trendrr is used in pretty much every episode,” Rebecca joked. It allows her to complete research quicker than if she were to do it manually. Trendrr serves as a valuable tool allowing FilmFan to operate in a timely, unique manner.
