Trendrr August 2011 Social TV Network Rankings

Of the top 5 broadcast networks, CBS had the highest increase in broadcast social share for the second month in a row, up 3% from August and 15% since July . ABC (up 2%), and CW (up 1%) were also up for the month of August. FOX remained constant between the two months at 27% NBC (down 7% from July) was the only network whose broadcast social share went down for the month of August. CBS’s rise can be seen mainly thanks to the success of new episodes of Big Brother.



CBS was the top social broadcast network for the month of August with 29% broadcast social share, followed by FOX with 27%. Rounding out the top 5 social broadcast networks for the month of August were FOX (27%), ABC (20%), NBC (18%), and CW (6%).

Of the 70+ cable networks Trendrr.tv tracks, MTV was the top social cable network for the month of August thanks to the Jersey Shore and the VMAs, dominating the conversation with 51% cable social share, followed by Discovery with 5%. Rounding out the top 5 social cable networks for the month of August were VH1 (5%), HBO (4%), and ABC Family (4%).

FOX’s Glee was the top social broadcast program for the month of August with 29% broadcast social share against the total Broadcast conversation for August, followed by CBS’s Big Brother with 10%. Rounding out the top 5 social broadcast programs for the month of August were FOX’s Family Guy (9%), FOX’s The Simpsons (8%), and CW’s Gossip Girl (5%). As in July, out of the top 5 social broadcast programs, only CBS’s Big Brother aired new episodes during the month of August.

MTV’s VMA’s were front and center in the month of August, taking 25% of all social conversation despite airing only 4 days before the end of the month. The Jersey Shore came in second with 19% of cable social share against the total Cable conversation for August. Rounding out the top 5 social cable programs for the month of August were USA’s Monday Night Raw (7%), MTV’s Teen Wolf (5%) and HBO’s True Blood (4%).
