Trendrr Powers Next Movie’s New MovieTracker

This week, Viacom and MTV officially launched the Trendrr-powered MovieTracker on nextmovie.com.

Trendrr powers MovieTracker by utilizing its curation filters to rank films based on a proprietary algorithm that factors sentiment across Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere.

MovieTracker is a unique and innovative new tool for movie fans, which measures the buzz generated from upcoming and newly released movies providing an interactive, up-to-the-minute ranking of the top 25 new films.

For the users: People can use MovieTracker to see what movies are the most talked about, get more info on the movies and show times, and join the conversation themselves. Drill downs provide aggregated examples of the latest tweets as well as related stories

Scott Robson, Vice President and General Manager of NextMovie.com said that the new tool “provides a clear, concise and timely way for fans to share their passion for movies. And because it’s based on the conversation around movies, rather than box office performance, it gives fans a chance to be part of the equation for the first time.”

Fans are encouraged to interact with the rankings and to tweet comments directly about their favorite films under the “add your voice” tab as the chart is updated in real time. They see what people are saying about movies as it happens, and how much of that conversation is positive sentiment.

“People are sharing their thoughts and emotions in real-time, this is the first movie chart to process, rank and reflect those conversations as they happen,” said Mark Ghuneim, CEO of Trendrr. “It’s a #smart visual rendering of conversational data that can educate audiences, inspire conversations and break emotional ground”.

While users can identify what movies they want to see, producers can use the tracker to make informed decisions on how to improve the overall sentiment of upcoming movies.

MovieTracker is available on NextMovie.com beginning today and will launch soon as an app for the iPad, the iPhone, and Android products.
